Intel has finally announced its i845PE and i845GE chipsets officially. New chipsets feature ICH4 thus don’t support SerialATA and AGP 8X technologies. In fact lack of AGP 8X support is not much of a problem since currently 8X AGP does not offer much performance boost, however Serial ATA is important for many users. Intel may add these supports sooner with updates to ICH4.
On the other hand these new chipsets give official support to DDR333. Also Hyper-Threading technology, which will be availible with the release of P4 3.06 is supported.
