Intel has confirmed the brandname of the second generetion Itanium processor as Itanium 2, as expected 🙂 It seem Madison and Deerfield will have their names respectively as Itanium 3 and 4. Company says that the CPU is scheduled for mid-year release and will perform 1.5-2 times performance of present Itaniums. You can see the pressrelease and new logo using the link below.
